Memorial Day evening (May 30, 2016) our first peonies opened. This is right after my last post about the pre-peony garden with everything holding its breath waiting for the bloom explosion.
I got a few photos the next morning before we left camping. Wow!
Here’s a view of the left end looking front on.
And the middle bed.
The middle bed with its magnificent Sweet Williams and just a few peonies.
Last year’s geum is blooming! Flowers are vivid rich orange, about 2 inches across and have long stems similar to poppies.
We left for a week camping trip moments after these photos and had a spectacular surprise the week later. Here’s the view from my porch. Sprawling peonies in all shades of rose, pink and white, with Sweet Williams, pinks, centrathus, salvia, achillea and a few late iris are in full bloom. Magnificent! We’ll walk down there and look up close next post.
