Ice storms leave trees and shrubs, cars and roads all coated with a layer of ice. Sunday morning we woke up to a beautiful scene with trees all sparkling under a layer of ice and yesterday they were even prettier with a bit of snow. This is Sunday morning.
Can you see the ice at the tips of the birch catkins? It’s easy to see how trees get broken from the weight of ice and snow when you realize these trees normally don’t touch the top of the truck.
All the colors were muted. Sunday was overcast and the clear ice on top of dark bark and white snow made the scene look like an old picture.
My ornamental grass was a spot of color. Do you think the stems will rebound? The plumes looked so good outside that I didn’t want to cut them. Now they are all crumpled on the wet driveway.
Today is Tuesday, Christmas Eve. The sun is shining, making everything beautiful again.
