We are on a ridge and it gets pretty windy here. The wind swoops up garbage and debris from cross street just south of us and deposits it in the trees and along the fence. In spring 2016 I found someone’s cashier check for rent, paper bags, drink cups and lots of other mail.
This year the most exciting find was gift wrap (complete with shiny blue bow) from Christmas, a home equity loan offer for a neighbor, along with lots of grocery store bags, softener salt bags, garbage bags, chip packets, fast food foam boxes, wrappers, a Christmas tree ornament and a reflector from a car.
I picked it all up and it’s back in the trash where it belongs.
The reason I was out by the trees at all was from carrying baskets of nasty wet leaves from the front garden back to the garden dump pile. (The pile is about 300 feet from the front and down the hill so a good exercise opportunity!)
It’s early spring here, too early to plant anything outside, but warm enough to start picking up and cutting back last year’s perennials. The daffodils have buds and it’s time to make the garden look pretty!
