Somehow I missed last week. The Epidemium is blooming, but it’s lavender and not yellow. I must have put the new one in the front of the bed and the small one in back is the old one which is yellow. Need to dig a better hole for the yellow one.
Friday, May 29, 2015 Iris in full, gorgeous bloom. Salvia and dianthus are doing well. New baby’s breath has couple tiny blossoms just opening. Festiva Maxima and pink peonies open. Detroit Symphony Orchestra concert, Tosca.
Saturday, May 30, 2015. Went to the Detroit art museum, then came home just in time for church. Pretty warm out. Still about half the peonies with buds have not bloomed.
Sunday, May 31, 2015. Warm. Just the first hint of a peony almost ready to open. The butterfly weed plants are growing well as is the new perennial sunflower. The pink evening primrose we bought a couple weeks ago died. It might have been planted too deep.
Monday, June 1, 2015. Cool, low 60s. Wonderful weather to re-weed everything and move the tiny seedlings around in the cutting garden. There weren’t too many weeds. Yay.
Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Perfect weather, about 70 and sunny. Fertilized the roses and hibiscus, cut the hibiscus back and broke a new branch. Peonies just started!
Wednesday, June 3, 2015. Nice although a tad warm, high 70s. Washed and vacuumed the car and admired the flowers but did no gardening. More peonies blooming including the deep rose frilly ones. White, dark rose, rose, pink, shell pink and Festiva Maxima are out there but the shell pink one hasn’t started. Mom’s peony is getting ready!
Thursday, Juen 4, 2015. Hot, mid 80s. Went to the nature center. All the colors of my peonies are blooming in the back garden. Mom’s peony is a deep rose, almost crimson. Peony out front just starting, it is late this year. Iris nearly done.
