“A faithful friend s a sturdy shelter; he who finds one finds a treasure. A faithful friend is beyond price, no sum can balance his worth. A faithful friend is a life-saving remedy, such as he who fears God finds. For he who fears God behaves accordingly and his friend is like himself.” Sirach.
I’ve been blessed with friends and they are indeed treasures to cherish forever.
First my husband, Dave, my best friend for over 40 years. Today is our 40th wedding anniversary and we plan to enjoy 40 more. .
Today though, let me thank my good friend Loren. Loren is one of my favorite antiquing buddies and great fun to be with. Today we went to the Allegan Antique Festival and walked around for over 4 hours looking at everything. When we got back we were both tired and hungry! The food at the festival smelled wonderful but both of us try to avoid things like elephant ears.
Loren made dinner for us, goulash with garlic toast and salad, and peanut butter Oreo cookies for dessert.
Here’s his goulash recipe:
2/3 pound ground beef
1 large can tomato sauce
1 big onion chopped up and sauteed in olive oil
1 teaspoon of garlic minced up in a jar (more or less)
Oregano, basil, salt and pepper.
Saute onions, then add ground beef, brown nicely. Add tomato sauce, garlic, herbs, salt and pepper. Cook for about 30 minutes. Cook macaroni and ladle the goulash over the macaroni. Easy!
Doesn’t this look good?
